How it Works

To rent an RV, please use our online quote/reservation system. We provide a detailed breakdown of all costs associated with your RV rental and there are no hidden fees.

One Way RV Rentals

A “one way RV rental” is when a customer chooses to pick-up a motorhome from one location and drop-off the motorhome at another.

For instance, the customer may decide to pick their RV up at a Vancouver depot. At the end of their vacation, the customer will drop the RV off at a pre-selected Halifax depot.

We provide one way RV rentals from many of our locations. Typically, a “one way fee” will be charged. Fees are charged based on distance between locations, so, the further the distance, the higher the fee. Throughout the year, we will offer specials where the one way fee will be waived (no charge).

Though we offer a variety of one way rental options, a one way booking may not always be possible.

To book a one way RV rental, either contact an agent at Adventure Touring USA, or choose your pick-up and drop-off cities at the first step of our online quote/reservation system to get started.

Minimum Rental Periods

All RV rentals have a minimum rental period of at least three nights. This will vary greatly depending on the time of year. If you are renting an RV during a major event or popular time of year, minimum rental periods will increase.

Specials and discounts will usually have a required minimum rental period. Some optional items will only be available with a minimum rental period, i.e., the Super All-Inclusive option is only available on rentals that are 14+ nights (where applicable).

Closures

Our RV rental locations/depots are closed on major Canadian holidays. This means that you will not be able to pick-up or drop-off an RV rental on these dates.

Closures are unique to individual depots, so closure dates may expand outside of major Canadian holidays.

The online quote/reservation system will let you know if you need to adjust your dates due to a minimum rental or closure before letting you continue.

RV Rental Booking

Adventure Touring presents an array of RV rentals to choose from. One of the best methods of finding the RV rental you are looking for is to use our online quote/reservation system. Once you have chosen your dates and locations, you will be shown a list of suitable RV rental options. If you prefer to browse RV rentals without entering dates and locations, please use the “Browse RV Classes” menu options in the top menu of this page.

Rental Codes

Individual RV rentals are assigned a “rental code”. This code is a unique identifier for a specific motorhome. Should you decide on renting a particular RV, the rental code lets our agents know which RV rental you are looking at, e.g., 04-A32S.

RV Types (Classes)

Class describes the body style of the motorhome, e.g., class A, class B, class C.

  • Class A RV rentals: Bus-style motorhomes. These are the largest RVs available, e.g., Class A 31′ Premium RV Rental. Those looking for a luxury RV rental will rent a class A.
  • Class B RV rentals: Van-style motorhomes. These are the smallest RVs available and provide the easiest maneuverability and best fuel economy. Class B RV rentals typically have basic features and less storage space, e.g., Class B 23′ RV Rental.
  • Class C RV rentals: “Cab-over” motorhomes. These RV rentals provide an additional bed over the motorhome’s cab area to increase sleeping capacity. Class C RV rentals are most popular because they are a mid-range RV that offers the best of both worlds, e.g., Class C 25′ RV Rental.

Amenities & Specifications

Adventure Touring USA offers RV rentals with a wide spectrum of features. From economy RV rentals to luxury RV rentals, we have it all.

Many of our RV rentals will have at least one television and DVD player. TVs are usually not operable while the vehicle is driving. Since televisions are the most desired amenity in our RV rentals, please ensure you are booking a motorhome that includes a TV by checking the RV details or contacting an agent to avoid disappointment.

RV rentals will contain varying features such as in-motion satellite, washers and dryers, stereo/entertainment systems, queen beds in master bedrooms, high-end cabinetry and counter tops, leather furniture, outside showers, automatic awnings, steps, and slide-outs, cruise control, air conditioning, rear view monitoring systems, diesel fuel, and more. Features unique to each RV rental will be clearly displayed in the RV details.

Specifications are the more technical details of a motorhome, e.g., height, length, and width dimensions, mechanical information, tank information, and more. Though we indicate the length of all RV rentals, we may have more detailed specifications available to you. Makes and models of motorhomes vary, so specifications may not be available. Should you require specifications, please contact Adventure Touring with the rental code of your desired RV rental.

Sleeping Capacities & Seatbelts

Each RV rental has a recommended sleeping capacity, i.e., number of people that are able to sleep in the motorhome. Your RV rental will, most likely, have convertible beds as well as standard beds, i.e., a dinette usually serves as a kitchen table by day and converts to a bed for night.

The number of people traveling in the RV should not exceed the number of seat belts in the RV as most states require by law. The number of seat belts may differ from the number of people an RV will sleep. A depot may refuse a rental should more people than the RV seats arrive at pick-up.

Understanding Your RV

Since many of our customers are somewhat unfamiliar with motorhomes, further education may be helpful in understanding the basics of operating an RV in order to gain confidence and enjoy your RV rental vacation to its fullest.

An orientation of your RV rental will be provided at the depot upon arrival.

Winterization

In colder climates, each RV rental must be “winterized” from, approximately, November to April in order to prevent freezing.

This means the water will be drained from the fresh water tank, hot water heater, and both waste tanks. Once the motorhome has been winterized, no water can be put into the fresh water tank and the RV rental cannot be hooked-up to the city water supply. No water will be available in the RV rental. The toilet can still be used as long as windshield washer antifreeze is poured down to rinse.

The customer may choose to de-winterize the motorhome once they get to a warmer climate. In this case, the RV rental must be re-winterized upon return to the depot.

Mileage

Most RV rentals will include a specific amount of kilometres, i.e., 100 km included per night.

For those needing additional kilometres, there are varying options available (depending on your RV rental selection). These options may come in the form of adding more kilometres per night, kilometre packages, or unlimited kilometre options.

Should a customer exceed the included or pre-paid kilometres, there will be a charge upon return to the depot, e.g., $0.45/km (charge is dependent on RV).

You will find additional kilometre options specific to your RV rental in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system.

Fuel Economy

We often get questions regarding what kind of fuel economy our RV rentals will get. This largely depends on weight of the motorhome (including people, water, equipment, etc.), driving habits, and road conditions.

Simply put, the less work the engine has to do, the better gas mileage you will get. The average for a gasoline powered RV will range from 2-4 KM/L.

Here are some tips to save on fuel costs:

  • Check tire pressure
  • Limit the use of air conditioning where possible
  • Try to bring only what you’ll need to keep the weight of the vehicle down
  • Plan your route ahead of time to find the shortest distance and avoid getting lost
  • Empty waste tanks when you leave a campground and do not fill up the water tanks until you stop for the night

Generators

A generator is a portable motor used to create electricity. Generators are powered by gasoline, diesel, or propane, and will create 120 volt electricity in the motorhome (the same as in North American homes). They are useful when there is no access to an electrical hook-up. While some appliances, i.e., stove, refrigerator, furnace can run on propane and battery, while other appliances will need 120 volts, e.g. microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, etc.

Generator usage is similar to kilometre usage in that some RV rentals will include a certain amount of hours, i.e., 5 hours included per night. Other RV rentals will include unlimited generator hours or offer pre-paid generator hours.

Some motorhomes are not equipped with a generator, so if this option is important, please ensure you are renting an RV that is equipped with a generator by checking the RV details or contacting Adventure Touring.

Should a customer exceed the included or pre-paid generator hours, there will be a charge upon return to the depot, e.g., $3.00/hour.

You will find any additional generator options specific to your RV rental in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system (where applicable).

Holding Tanks

Following a few simple steps will allow you to quickly and easily empty your holding tanks with no mess.

  • Finding a dump station (sani dump) should be easy. Most campsites, rest areas and lots of gas stations are equipped with a dump station.
  • You will want to make sure that the tanks are at least half full before emptying the tanks. This will ensure that the solid matter is completely removed from the tanks
  • Before removing the cap to the holding tank opening, make sure both the black and the grey water valves are closed.
  • Attach your sewer hose to the holding tank drain outlet. Make sure this is securely attached.
  • Inset the other end of the sewer hose into the hole of the dump station.
  • Check again to make sure all connections are secure. Now open the BLACK water valve first (larger of the two valves).
  • Once the black water tank is empty, open the grey water valve.
  • When both tanks are empty, close both valves. Make sure that both the black water and grey water tank values are closed. Leaving the tank values open allows the water to drain, leaving behind only the solid waste, which can dry out and cause all kinds of problems.
  • Disconnect the sewer hose from your tank outlet.
  • If water is available rinse out the sewer hose and rinse the area around the dump station hole to make sure any spillage is cleaned up.
  • Make sure you put your hose back into your RV as you will need this for next time.
  • Add some fresh water and the chemicals to the black water tank through the toilet as per the directions.

Rental Rates

RV rental rates are charged similarly to that of a hotel or airline. In other words, rates will increase during the peak season and decrease during the low season. Special events, such as Burning Man and Nascar, will increase the rental rates as well. Rates are generally charged by the night, e.g., $200/night.

Try our online quote/reservation system to find the rental rate of your desired RV rental.

Year-Round Discounts

Throughout the year, Adventure Touring Canada will offer temporary discounts that are incorporated into our online quotes/reservations.

All year, we extend discounts to customers who are renting motorhomes for longer periods of time.

Long-Term Discount

Adventure Touring does offer savings on regular rates for longer rentals. Depending on your pick-up location and motorhome selection, discounts are included in the rental rate shown on our online/quote reservation system. Please contact Adventure Touring if you require further information.

Price Match

Should the customer find a lower rate available for the same dates, cities and RV rental model, the customer must contact Adventure Touring within 24 hours of the reservation. Once the lower rate is verified, Adventure Touring will, at our discretion, either match the lower rate or cancel the reservation without a cancellation fee. The price match does not apply to special events, e.g., Burning Man, Nascar.

Options & Fees *

Additional options can be found in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system. Fees will be clearly displayed on your quote. We do not hide fees, so there will be no surprises when you pick your RV rental up at the depot.

You will find a variety of optional items to choose from depending on your RV rental selection, e.g., lawn chairs, barbeques, GPS, child seats, convenience/kitchen kits, etc. These items will either be priced as a one-time cost for the entire rental or per night, e.g., $7.00/each or $7.00/night. Availability is not always guaranteed as quantities are limited at each depot.

Kits

Kits are our most popular optional item as they usually contain any kitchen and/or linen accessories you will need in your motorhome. In order to determine the quantity of kits you will need, check the “learn more” details in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system.

Insurance

Adventure Touring offers optional insurance on RV rentals and includes insurance in the rental rate on select RV rentals. The cost for extra coverage is generally low and, often times, reduces your refundable security deposit significantly. To find details on optional insurance for your RV rental, check the “learn more” details in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system.

Other Supplemental Items

Additional supplemental items include such things as Mexico or Northern travel, pet fees, all-inclusive packages, and towing (if applicable). To find details on supplemental items, check the “learn more” details in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system.

Preparation Fee

Often times, a preparation fee will be required. This covers orientation of your RV rental (60-90 minutes) and some additional items that may include:

  • First tank of propane
  • First supply of toilet chemicals
  • Outside cleaning of motorhome
  • 1 pack of toilet paper
  • Maps

* One-way fees are described in the “One Way RV Rentals” section at the top of this page.

Pets

Adventure Touring Canada RV Rentals offers several “pet-friendly” motorhomes. A pet fee or deposit may be required in order to bring your pet along for the ride. If so, this option is in the “Equip” section of our online quote/reservation system.

If bringing your pet is important, please check the RV details or contact Adventure Touring for more information.

Reserving Your RV Rental

So, you’ve submitted your online reservation. What’s next? Once we have received your reservation, an agent will confirm availability on the RV rental as well as any additional options you have chosen. Should any adjustments be necessary, an agent will contact you via telephone or email to confirm the changes to your booking.

Once the reservation is completed, you will receive a confirmation, which will be sent to your email address (be sure to check your spam or junk folders if you do not hear back from us). Your confirmation will include the depot address, phone number, and pick-up times for your RV rental vacation.

Terms & Conditions

Every RV rental will have “Terms & Conditions”. This document will describe specific information related to policies and procedures of your RV rental. It is very important that you review the terms and conditions that pertain to your chosen RV before committing to any rental. Remember, you are responsible for considerable cancellation fees once booked.

Payment Information

If your departure date is near, we will make a transaction on your credit card for the total amount. If you have booked your RV rental well ahead of time, we will collect a booking deposit first and, 30-60 days prior to your departure date, we will process a transaction for the balance of your RV rental. Some amounts may be due at the depot upon pick-up of your motorhome.

Specific amounts and payment schedules are found on our online quote/reservation system

Cancellations

The thought of having to cancel your long-awaited RV rental vacation can be stressful. Sometimes plans change and we understand that. For peace of mind, please purchase cancellation insurance.

For US residents and travellers from around the world:

For Canadian residents: TravelGuard

In the event that you cancel your RV rental without cancellation insurance, there will be a fee. This fee depends on how much notice is given and is a percentage of the total amount of the booking. The “Terms & Conditions” of your RV rental will describe these costs in detail.
