From Coast to Coast
Canada is one of those countries that fascinates. From one side to the other, people are accommodating and incredibly nice. However, the views and lifestyles differ dramatically from coast to coast. With sky-high mountain vibes in the west, flat land parries in the middle, big-city living Mideast through to the ocean and a cottage feel in the east. Although that certainly doesn’t describe everyone, with the vast cultures and beliefs, Canada is the best place to experience exactly what you’re looking for. It offers eight distinct forest regions, including boreal forest on the Canadian Shield.
Fresh Water Galore!
There are also over 2,000,000 lakes! Which is more than any other country and contains much of the world’s freshwater. So if you like to swim, Canada offers a host of options including 563 lakes greater than 100 km2 (39 sq mi). If you’re looking for a colder water dip, head to the Rocky Mountains and the Coast Mountains for fresh-water glaciers.
Cross Canada Road Trip
The cross Canada road trip is on many bucket lists. And the question that is asked most? “I can drive across the country in 4-5 days right?” The answer – maybe. If you want to drive nonstop without really checking out any of the sights. Canada covers 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world’s second-largest country by total area. Canada also has the longest coastline in the world, with a total length of 243,042 kilometres (151,019 mi); additionally, its border with the United States is the world’s longest land border, stretching 8,891 kilometres (5,525 mi).
How Long Does It Take to Drive Across Canada?
Our recommendation is to take 14 days when driving across Canada. This allows for a couple of days in each province on average, though the longer the better!
